The Project Triple

This last class seemed to fly by. Normally we finish learning a particular project and we then discuss different elements of that project or other things. This class was different in that we did not seem to have enough time to get everything done or at least I felt that way. We were the last group to use the SmartBoards and I was only able to present my Probability project to one person and unable to see my groups'. I really like the SmartBoard and I noticed that I am already better at using it the second time around. I can't wait to become a somewhat expert at it. The wiki spaces I thought were ok - its just another type of communication media. I can see that it has its upsides and downsides. The camping supplies example that was provided in the mini tutorial was very informative and I really got the gist of what wiki's are all about. I then proceeded to work on Google Sketch Up. This was a ton of fun. The possibilites are endless. I like anything where I can be creative and put my own personal spin on things. For the most part, that is what this class is all about. On a side note - I loved the chocolate cookies and Hershey's chocolate pieces. They were handed out at the right time. I needed a boost of energy. Late classes are always tiring after a long day - especially 3 hour ones. I was a little dissapointed with my groups PodCast grade and my personal midpoint grade but what can you do. Overall, I liked this class a bunch because we kept busy the entire time and got much accomplished.

  1. I will try to give you more time on the smartboard in a future class. The more you play with it the better you feel.
3 hours at that time of day is difficult. I'm glad you liked the cookies. I feel we need a little pick me up sometimes.

  2. Marc, This is my first visit to your blog, and had I known that you have all of these lovely photos, I would have visited sooner. The view from your porch--where exactly is this porch? Can I come over? I know what you mean about feeling rushed during the smartboard presentations- I only got to present to one person, and poor Matthew had the unenviable position of having to teach me chemistry! If I had my way, we would have focused exclusively on smartboards, with more of an opportunity to see everyone's projects together. There are always so many ways to skin a cat, and had we had the chance to go over at least half of the classes' lessons as a group, we could have all benefited. Google sketchup is a blast, but I'm having a tough time figuring out how to make a place for it in an ELA classroom. And wikis, I think they too deserved more time than we were allotted. I know there are only so many classes, but I'd rather know a few things well than a ton of things superficially. Maybe that's just my peculiar learning style.

  3. I feel your pain Marc. I thought we had the podcast project in the bag, but I suppose there is always room for improvement.
